Day 25, September 18: Melide to Arca (33 km; 7:20)

We heard the sounds of various types of birds interspersed with the noise of domestic animals as we traversed the many small valleys dotted with farms, small villages, and groves of oak, beech and eucalyptus trees. The smell of the eucalyptus made me think of being in a Vicks factory.

While walking along one lane, something suddenly hit me on top of the head; it was an apple from one of the many trees bordering the path. I immediately thought I was about to make a significant scientific discovery. Alas, none was forthcoming. My Tilley hat must have absorbed too much of the force of the apple.

At the albergue we met again ran into “Ibuprofen Mark” and later we had a nice dinner at a local restaurant.
